Cheddar Bay Biscuits

You know how it is when you go to Red Lobster, and they bring out those wonderful biscuits - you just sit there and keep eating them, you can't stop.  They bring more and you keep eating more.  I know how you can make them at home!!  It's easy, quick, and inexpensive.  Let me show you:

2 cups all purpose flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp garlic powder
3/4 tsp kosher salt
1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter (3/4 cup)
1 cup whole milk
1 (8 oz) pkg shredded cheddar cheese (2 cups)
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees, you want it nice and hot and ready to go.

In a small bowl melt 1 stick of butter and set it a side.
In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and 1/2 teas salt.
 Whisk together
 add melted butter and milk
Whisk together just until the flour mixture is wet - DO NOT OVER MIX, (this is the key to good, flaky biscuits).
Add in the cheddar cheese, (we like to use the sharp cheddar, but you can use mild cheddar).  Now fold in the cheese with a spoon.
Drop heaping spoonfuls onto a baking sheet, lined with parchment paper.  You will get 14 - 18 biscuits, depending on how large you make them, we like them fairly large so we only get 15.

Now bake for 10 - 12 minutes until golden brown.  The larger the biscuit, the longer it will need to bake. Because I make my biscuits large, I need to bake mine 12 minutes.
While the biscuits are baking:

In a small bowl, melt 1/2 stick of butter

add dried parsley
1/4 teas salt

 Stir mixture together well
When the biscuits are done - brush the butter, parsley mixture over the top of the biscuits generously.
There you have it, wonderful Cheddar Bay Biscuits.

Look at all those wonderful layers.  Boy do these taste good and the house smells wonderful.

And from start to finish it only took 20 minutes!!

These are going to go great with our fried chicken tonight.  And they are wonderful with clam chowder!

Give these a try and let me know how your family liked them.
